The Book of Science

The Book of Science is the foundational and guiding text of The Fellowship of Science.

It is being written as the central book of our community: a serious, evidence-grounded text for beings who seek meaning, moral direction, life guidance, rituals, symbols, community, health practices, and a way to face mortality without supernatural claims or requirements to believe in gods, deities, souls, spirits, or revealed dogma.

Our goal is to publish The Book of Science in or before 2027, with current expectations that it will be published in the summer or fall of 2026.

The book is designed to present the intellectual, ethical, practical, and ritual foundation of The Fellowship of Science. It will contain a wide range of chapters, including a non-fictitious account of the emergence of our universe; the history and fundamentals of science; our core beliefs and primary purposes; our Guiding Principles; the Threats to Thriving we have identified; the body and mind of members of Homo sapiens; a healthy lifestyle for members of Homo sapiens; artificial beings; communities, societies, and the larger “we”; the correction of myths and misconceptions; our traditions and rituals; our meditative practices; our mantras; science-themed stories and parables; science-themed poetry; science-themed visual art; facing mortality; the future; and more.

The purpose of The Book of Science is not to demand belief, but to guide practice. It is meant to help beings understand more clearly, live more wisely, reduce suffering, foster flourishing, strengthen community, protect the vulnerable, improve health and well-being, and seek truth through evidence.

For The Fellowship of Science, this book is not merely an informational text. It is our consecrated text: set apart for the serious work of learning, reflection, guidance, ritual, ethical development, and community formation. Its authority does not come from divine revelation. Its authority comes from its commitment to reality, evidence, reason, compassion, humility, and revision when better evidence appears.
